| Gina Holland grew up in Warwickshire and attended Sutton Coldfield School of Art prior to embarking upon a BA Honours degree course at St Martin's School of Art, specialising in Fashion and Printed Textiles.
After graduation, she first worked in the fashion industry but later gravitated back to Fine Arts, designing and producing graphics for a UK based publisher of hand made prints. This experience led to the emergence of a screenprinting studio, where Gina worked as a technician for visiting artists and served as her studio for the creation of her own silkscreen prints, a medium learned previously in the textile departments at St Martins. Gina now concentrates on the creation of her own work and is an keen conservationist helping out at a local wildlife hospital whenever possible.
"My mixed media paintings are created from direct observation of land, coast and sea. I am both fascinated and inspired by visual evidence of the passage of time. I paint not only nature's geological impact but also the remaining fragments of our ancestors existance, the tracks, broken monuments and scars left behind by ancient cultures and beliefs." |
