| Rachel Grigor was born in Bath in 1960. In 1978 she embarked on a three year BA Honours Degree at Goldsmiths College, London, specialising in Fine Art. She then studied for a further three years at Brighton Polytechnic, this time specialising in Printmaking and was awarded a Class Distinction, Post Graduate Diploma. Her Group Exhibitions to date have included the Stowels Trophy Exhibition; The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (most years from 1981 onwards); The Royal Society of Sussex Painters, Worthing Museum; The Bradford International Print Biennale; The Humberside International Print Exhibition; The Royal west of England Academy, Bristol; The Open Print Exhibition, Bankside Gallery, London and a mixed ehibition of Regatta Gallery sponsored artists at the Gallery on the Pier, New York 1991.
Rachel first exhibited with Regatta in 1989 and has continued to show her diverse portfolio with us ever since that date. She works in oil pastel, watercolour, acrylics and collage, using vibrant colours to create eclectic and busy images of landscapes, birds, fish, human figures and architecture. her monoprints are an amalgam of her original works on paper and her printmaking, which tends to be more open and restrained, with much use of line work, either as sugar lift etchings or drypoint. Much of her printamaking also incorporates small areas of collage, which respond well to the slightly random process of sugarlift, at which Rachel excels. |
